Santri Day, which is celebrated on 22nd October each year, is one kind of a historical day in Indonesia. Some of us, however, do not know the history of this day and its value.  This essay will try to address the history of Santri Day and its value for young generations and Prodi Tadris IPA Biologi FTK UIN Mataram.

First of all, Santri Day reminds us to the history of 'Resolusi Jihad' in 22nd October 1945. Resolusi Jihad refers to the announcement created by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari who is founder of Nahdlatul Ulama. In general, Resolusi jihad consists of two main points namely: all santri, ulama, and citizens have to engage in war against colonials (Netherlands, England, and Japan) and it reminds all Muslims and people that war against colonials is 'Jihad fi Sabilillah' (the quality of war would be same as war in Prophet Muhammad SAW era). 

Secondly, in recent years, there is no physical war in Indonesia. Nevertheless, it does not mean that the Resolusi Jihad is not contextual right now. One kind of value of Resolusi Jihad is to boost the spirit of young generations and institutional education for improving the quality of education that can be useful to achieve the Indonesian golden era in 2050. This value has to be implemented by real actions such as: strengthening literacy skills, building a network connection with other academicians in other countries, and improving the educational process.

 In my point of view, Prodi Tadris IPA Biologi FTK UIN Mataram could implement the spirit of Resolusi Jihad by integrating the history of Santri Day into their curriculum. It would be beneficial both for students and lecturers. This integration results in the creating of long-term memory regarding this history and its value. As a result, the chain of Santri Day history and its value will not be forgotten by the new pupils in the future.
